The Best Mouse Trap is Not the Board Game
Ever play the board game Mouse Trap? The whole point is that you’re the mouse and you have to escape from a series of cleverly baited traps while simultaneously trying to get your opponent caught. You’d get an occasional “Oh no!” exclamation and the whole thing was a bunch of laughs. In reality, however, when you’re faced with a mouse it isn’t half as funny.
When my sister moved out and got her own home, I remember one of the things she had to deal with was mice. We were going through her kitchen trying to decide what to cook for dinner. We opened the cabinet to find that there were holes in the snack boxes and shredded bits of cardboard everywhere, along with a few extra little surprises. The first thing she asked me was how to catch a mouse. I suggested glue traps for mice. She looked back at the cabinets and decided that wasn’t such a bad idea.
I remember visiting a while after she had set everything up and she had told me she had caught one of the mice and enthusiastically emphasized that she was “a genius and got the best mouse traps, like, ever!” How true that was has yet to be determined but at least it got the job done and fairly quickly.
