NYC has recently cut back on its rodent fighting coalition. Four months have passed since pest control workers have been cut 75%, from 84 down to 21 workers. These aides clear garbage strewn lots, which, when left unattended, are breeding grounds for filthy rodents.
Rats came with the Pilgrims on the Mayflower, and have lived underneath New York City for hundreds of years. When new construction unearths a plot of land that belongs to the rats, they scurry out in droves, bringing disease and filth with them. There has been an 8% increase in rat sightings with 6,212 calls made to 311 last month alone.
Rats are everywhere in New York, everyone knows that. But it’s not okay to see these rats during the day, or outside of sewers and the subway. We need more cats, catchmaster or not. Rat poison only does so much and is dangerous for people and pets. If you start seeing rats, you need mouse glue traps. These sticky mouse traps are the best mouse traps because they are also the most humane mouse traps.
Sticky mouse traps are a great way to catch mice and rats and easily put them out of their misery with a quick shovel to the skull afterwards.
